The internet has changed the marketing equation 180 degrees with consumers now selecting the content they want to see. And what ARE they selecting? VIDEO. Studies indicate that upward to 75% of internet users watch on-line videos. A person visiting a site will remain longer if video is present and after watching are more receptive to reading and responding to other materials.

The web is the new frontier for advertising. Dollars spent on advertising are migrating to on-line video ads at an accelerating rate. It is not hard to see the advantage in cost savings, efficiency in distribution and the ability to better target the audience.

Repurposing existing video for internet deliver may not work. Instead of pushing a message out to the masses as was the trend with mass media, you must look for new ways to connect with individuals, to inspire, entertain and interest them in your experiences, products and ideas.

Economic Conditions

With declining public confidence in government and the banking institutions and the value of what a dollar will buy plummeting, video comes to the rescue. Under these conditions the survival decisions of the business owner are:

  • Increase the frequency of communication
  • Increase the value of the communication in the eyes of the customer,
  • increase the quality of your message and its presentation.

Home grown video is acceptable for web users and in many ways adds to the authenticity of some messages. But this ‘acceptability’ should not invalidate the idea of creating a quality communication. Caring for the audience, as demonstrated in high video standards, actually grants the proper importance to the viewer.

The broad accessibility to cameras and other communication technologies has not changed the importance of delivering and “artful” and professional communication.
